John the Mouse: Zamboni preparing Ice for Disney on Ice

Frank Zamboni first introduced the world to the ice resurfacing machine In 1949.

The Zamboni needs to wash the ice, shave the ice and leave behind a layer of fresh ice making water for the performers to skate on.

The blue screw shaped blades in this animation, are the horizontal and vertical augers which convey and propel the shaved ice into the 100 cu. ft. snow tank.

The yellow pipe in this animation, called the conditioner, delivers the wash water from the 72 gal Wash Water Tank to the ice surface.

The green pipe is used to vacuum the dirty water and after it has been filtered, it will be returned the wash water tank to be used again.

The silver pipe delivers water from the 192 gal ice making tank to the ice surface, which is spread behind the machine’s conditioner with a towel to get an even coat on the ice.

From what I can tell it this is a Zamboni model 526 zooming around the ice. I will go over a few more stats.
